Rethinking Events Without Waste (AUCKLAND)

Are you an event organiser, venue manager, or sustainability lead looking to start or advance your zero waste journey? Join Without Waste’s FREE four-part workshop series designed to give event professionals practical tools to reduce waste, plan with confidence, cut costs, and create better event experiences.

The first workshop will focus on reducing plastic waste at events and waste reporting, with practical guidance you can apply to your own event, venue, vendors, suppliers, and operations.

Topics include:

  • Where plastic waste shows up at events
    Common sources of plastic waste and how to identify them and swap them early.

  • Recycling, reuse, and better alternatives
    What can be recycled, where reuse works, and how to choose better options.

  • Simple ways to reduce waste before the event
    Planning, purchasing, vendor communication, and practical prevention steps.

  • Waste data and reporting
    How to track waste, measure progress, and use the results for future planning.

  • Common challenges and next steps
    Budget, contamination, vendor buy-in, infrastructure, and where to start.

The workshop talk will run from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, with networking from 6pm to 6:30pm and more time to connect after the session. Nibbles and drinks will be provided.The talk will also be recorded for those who cannot attend the full session.Dates for the remaining three workshops will be shared once confirmed.These workshops are funded by the Auckland Council Waste Minimisation and Innovation Fund.
